Over 20 years ago Briana Lawrence and Jessica Walsh (Snow) were two fanfiction writing ladies who geeked out over Gundam Wing boys and Resident Evil. Now? They’re still geeks and still have their fandoms, but they’re also a married couple who write books, wear nerdy outfits and do their best to keep their three butt-head cats in line. They’re failing. Send help.
Briana is currently working as the EN Senior Features Editor for Crunchyroll. Here, she works with an amazing team who puts up with her emotions about "SK8 the Infinity" and whatever sports anime is airing that season. When she’s not doing that, she’s working as an author with a number of releases. There’s her middle grade book series "In Search of Superpowers: A Fantasy Pin World Adventure" about a group of kids who get superpowered enamel pins. This may be an excuse for her to justify her ita bag collection of pins. There’s her upcoming book "Essential Manga Guide: 50 Series Every Manga Fan Should Know," an essay guide where she rambles on about why manga is a vital part of our reading experience. And there’s her magical girl series "magnifiqueNOIR," her love letter to "Sailor Moon" in the form of Black, queer magical girls.
Snow is also a writer and is hard at work on the third book in the couple’s Hunters urban fantasy series now that she’s launched her horror anthology "Little Creepers," which has had stories read on various podcasts such as Ghoul Intentions and the always spine-tingling Mr. Creepy Pasta. If you’re a fan of Asian-style horror stories, this is the book for you! Her latest book is "Uncertain Aspects," an urban fantasy mystery series where certain individuals effect those around them in unexpected ways. She also runs the blog Well, Are They?, a review site that covers queer media and is home to the couple’s Queer Manga Book Club. When she’s not writing, you can catch her (potentially swearing) at her sewing machine, working on various craft projects and outfits where she designs variations of her and Briana’s favorite characters. She does this through both cosplay and everyday looks that show off her love of all things geeky and creative.
When going to conventions, Briana and Snow always bring their best. You can get lost in their books—or heck—you can come by for a selfie and fun conversations about anime, ships, or video games. Use caution, because if you start a conversation about "Tears of the Kingdom" or the criminally underrated "Kids on the Slope" they may not let you leave!
