COVID Safety Policy

COVID 2023 Policy

COVID-19 Warning

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease that may result in personal injury, severe illness, and death. By visiting Naka-Kon at the Overland Park Convention Center, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure of COVID-19. All visitors must follow the Naka-Kon health and safety protocols. Please do your part to keep yourself and others safe.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (CDC), have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 7 days, have been directly exposed to someone with COVID-19, or simply do not feel well, please stay home.

Face Coverings

  • Everyone over the age of two (2) years old is strongly encouraged to wear a mask within the Overland Park Convention Center and Sheraton Hotel convention spaces.
  • Harassment is prohibited. Harassing staff and/or attendees who are wearing masks will result in your badge being revoked, your removal from the convention space, or other actions deemed appropriate per our Harassment Policy.
  • Masks may still be required in order to attend specific panels, events, guest events, meetups, etc. Please bring a mask just in case it is needed for any events you would like to attend.

Face mask recommendations

  • 3+ layers of non-woven material (surgical-style masks)
    OR
N95, KF94, KN95, or above rated respirator with no exhalation valve (or exhalation valve disabled or filtered).
  • Fully covers nose and mouth and secures under chin.
  • Fits snugly against sides of face.

The above policy may be updated based on future recommendations from the CDC, FDA, or other health authorities.

We understand that this policy change will be met with mixed reactions and may negatively impact many attendees’ ability to attend Naka-Kon 2023. If this is the case for you, please reach out to membership@naka-kon.com.
